Day 1: Arrive Tokyo

Welcome to Tokyo, the vibrant heart of Japan! Your Out World Journeys ambassador will greet you upon arrival and escort you to your hotel, where you can unwind and settle in.

Day 2: Tokyo

Begin your day with a journey through Asakusa, a district rich in history and culture. Explore Nakamise Street and its centuries-old shops before diving into the culinary delights of Kappabashi Kitchen Street.

Day 3: Tokyo

This morning, you’ll see the highlights of Tokyo during your city tour. Including many of the city’s temples and shrines including the Meiji Shrine and Imperial Palace. After your tour, the rest of the day is yours to explore the city. Tonight, venture out on a walking tour of Tokyo, focused on queer life. Stop for a bite to eat and enjoy some sake on this exciting evening tour. 

Day 4: Tokyo – Hakone

Travel to Hakone and soak in its stunning landscapes with a ride on the Hakone Freepass. Marvel at Mt. Fuji’s beauty, cruise Ashinoko Lake on a pirate ship, and indulge in a traditional Japanese Kaiseki-style dinner at a ryokan.

Day 5: Hakone – Osaka

Board the bullet train to Osaka. You’ll begin the day with walking tour of Japan’s third largest city. You’ll visit the activity of the business district and the historic center. Stroll along the Dotonbori waterfront and visit the Hozenji Temple. You’ll also have time for shopping! Tonight, an Osaka Night Food Tour, discovering the city’s queer-friendly eateries and hidden gems.

Day 6: Osaka

After some free time in the morning, this afternoon you’re off to discover the culinary traditions of Japan. Learn the preparation methods for popular Japanese dishes including green tea, takoyaki (fried balls of wheat flour and octopus), okonomiyaki (savory pancakes), and miso soup. Expand your Japanese cuisine knowledge, and best of all, you get to eat your creations when you’re finished. The balance of the day is yours to enjoy the city.

Day 7: Osaka – Kyoto

Journey by rail to beautiful Kyoto. After checking in at the hotel, depart for an authentic, traditional tea ceremony. Your hosts will assist you with wearing a traditional kimono before taking you through a ceremony that has been practiced for thousands of years. Later today, enjoy a Back Street Cycling Private Tour, exploring the city’s queer-friendly neighborhoods and historic sites.

Day 8: Kyoto

Join a half-day walking tour of Kyoto, visiting its oldest Zen temple and ending at the revered Yasaka Shrine, a symbol of Kyoto’s LGBTQ+ inclusivity.

Day 9: Kyoto

A full day at leisure to explore one of Japan’s most beautiful cities.

Day 10: Departure
